Six 1-hour workshops based on the 2015 Dietary Guidelines for Americans and the PA Guidelines for Americans. Each workshop includes a lesson plan, learning objectives, talking points, hands-on activities, videos, and handouts. For community educators, health promoters, dietitians/ nutritionists, cooperative extension agents, and others to teach to adults in a wide variety of community settings.

Alameda County developed 6-class series (2 hours each). Each class includes nutrition education, food safety, produce/shopping tips, cooking and food preparation skills, and a hands-on practice session.

Lessons are taught 3 times per week for 12 or 24 weeks; 3 sessions per lesson by a trained coach mentor. The K-8th grade curriculum introduces soccer to children, while also providing them and their families with the tools they need to make healthy lifestyle decisions. The program supports children in improving their physical health, increasing their knowledge about healthy lifestyles, and improving their self-esteem and behavior.

The Healthy Kids Out of School Curriculum encourages physical activity and healthy eating habits in 4th and 5th graders (modifications can be made for older kids). The lessons encourage fruits and vegetables for snacks, water as the beverage of choice, and new ways to increase active time to help kids reach the 60 minutes-a-day recommendation. Cooking Skills and World Cuisine is designed to increase nutrition knowledge, culinary skills, liking of vegetables, vegetable consumption, and communication about healthy eating between students and families. Each lesson explores a different country’s cuisine and teaches young chefs how to follow a recipe, prepare and cook ingredients, and leave the kitchen as clean as they found it. Students that have completed the Cooking Skills and World Cuisine program are able to cook a balanced healthy meal that includes whole grains, lean protein, fruits, and vegetables.
